Odzala-Kokoua National Park Overview
Odzala-Kokoua National Park, in the remote north-west of Republic of the Congo, is one of Africa’s oldest national parks established in 1935. It is a tapestry of pristine rainforests, savannahs, rivers and baïs and plays an integral part of the Congo Basin and TRIDOM Transfrontier Park (overlapping Gabon, Congo and Cameroon) – the lungs of Africa. Today, Odzala Discovery Camps – Ngaga Camp, Lango Camp and Mboko Camp – are gaining fast traction with those who visit to experience one of the world’s last intact eco-systems; a haven for the Western Lowland Gorilla, Forest Elephant, Bongo and many more species of flora and fauna.

Congo Basin
The Congo Basin makes up one of the most important wilderness areas left on earth. At 500 million acres (200 million ha), it is larger than the state of Alaska and stands as the world’s second-largest tropical rainforest.
Spanning across six countries – Cameroon, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea and Gabon – the Basin actively contributes to the wellbeing of all living things on earth.
Inhabited by humans for more than 50,000 years, the Congo Basin provides food, fresh water and shelter to more than 75 million people. Nearly 150 distinct ethnic groups exist in this region alongside approximately 10,000 species of tropical plants (30% unique to the region) as well as 400+ species of mammals, 1,000+ species of birds and 700+ species of fish.
Endangered wildlife, including Forest Elephants, Chimpanzees, Bonobos, and Western Lowland Gorillas inhabit this lush, intact ecosystem. Odzala-Kokoua National Park and Sangha Trinational Protected Area are pivotal parts of the Congo Basin. Congo Conservation Company is proud to be able to offer a unique, life-changing opportunity to visit these forests, in safety and comfort.
Experience an inspiring journey grounded in conservation, community and research as you explore the Basin’s towering forests, life-giving rivers and expansive open savannah. By choosing to visit this remote area of Africa with us, each of our guests forms part of this incredible history and helps to protect the heritage and importance of the Congo Basin.
