Dzanga-Sangha Special Reserve
Within the Sangha Trinational Protected Area is the Dzanga-Sangha Special Reserve, where we operate in partnership with Sangha Lodge.
Rich in biodiversity and dense concentrations of wildlife, Dzanga-Sangha comprises a total area of more than 4 000 km² (400 000 hectares) and is arguably one of Africa’s most remote and rewarding destinations. Through new access routes pioneered by Congo Conservation Company, travellers can explore this wilderness through Discoveries connecting Sangha Lodge to Odzala Discovery Camps.
Dzanga Baï in Dzanga-Sangha Special Reserve is a pilgrimage destination for environmental travellers. A congregation point for vast herds of forest elephant and forest buffalo, as well as rare animals such as bongo, giant forest hog and red river hog, wildlife seeks out the mineral-rich waters found here. By visiting Sangha Lodge with us, each guest supports crucial conservation efforts, including pangolin research, wildlife rehabilitation, the reduction of poaching for the bushmeat trade, as well as socio-economic development within the region.

”Wading through streams and trekking along narrow, muddy paths cut through the forest, we arrive at Dzanga Baī in Dzanga-Sangha Special Reserve, widely considered to be the best place in Africa in which to see forest elephants. Up to 150 gather here every day, sometimes accompanied by rare bongo antelopes and forest buffaloes.
