Dzanga Baï is a clearing in the Dzanga Sangha Special Reserve, where Forest Elephants congregate en-masse, often accompanied by other rare species such as Forest Buffalo, Bongo, Red River Hog or Giant Forest Hog.
It is one of, if not the best of, places to witness large numbers of forest elephants interacting and foraging in close proximity from the safety of a mirador or hide while overlooking the clearing. Behaviour that is observed is social behaviour, elephant trumpeting, digging for minerals and elephant baths in the red, golden and white clays present in the clearing.
